The Blog's purpose is help spread the word about the TAFEE Concert series, the Concerts in the UU Dome series, & add'l concerts which I help organize and/or wish to help publicize.

Skipper's Smokehouse - TAFEE Tues/Mar 8/$10. JUGGERNAUT JUG BAND. This is a seasoned show band & -- oh my goodness -- WHAT A SHOW! Their music appeals to all ages -- from teens to great- grandma & pa. "...zany showmanship...[the JJB] makes as much music as any four humans can." - The Cincinnati Enquirer From Performing Arts Centers, to Dollywood, to Resorts to Taverns to the Skipperdome, the Jugs keep a dizzying tour schedule. The band consists of: Roscoe Goose on Washboard, Trumpet, Cans, Blues Harp, and Snare. He also plays First Jug but usually gets slapped before getting chance to play Second Jug. The Amazing Mr. Fish on Walking Bass, Running Nose Flute and Washtub Bass. (Actually not a fish and according to female acquaintances, anything but amazing.) Big Daddy T sings and plays Guitar in seven languages. He can play the Kazoo too, but chooses not to. Smiley Habanero is a hot guitarist from south of the border. And that's not all. UU Dome - Thurs/Mar 10/7:30 PM/ $7. NOTE THE 7:30 start time. This evening's music will feature talented local musicians and will consist of two sets plus an intermission. The first set, beginning at 7:30 p.m., will feature JIMMY PAYNE, MEREDITH DEMMING & J.R. ROGERS TRIO (also known as Dreams of Horses). They do folk, pop, show tunes, chants, originals, a cappella, and instrumentals from the 1940s to the present. Their fine harmonies and fancy guitar pickin' make for a pleasing audience experience The second set, beginning at approximately 8:30, will be a UU CHURCH OF TAMPA MUSIC SHOWCASE, HOSTED BY AND FEATURING DAN MILLER, BILL BLYMILLER & FRIENDS.

Skipper's Smokehouse - TAFEE Tues/Mar 29/8pm/$10. Tammerlin & Redheaded Stepchild Double Bill in a "Suwannee Decompression Concert" following the previous weekend's Suwannee Springfest in North Florida where they both will have performed. TAMMERLIN is Jacksonville's Lee Hunter & Arvid Smith . Their brand of music is described as rootsy -mystical. Lee handles most of the song writing and vocal duties. She also handls most of the percussion duties. Arvid masterfully handles the instrumental work. He's equally adept at dobro, finger-style and slide on acoustic, electric, 6 & 12 string guitars. Tammerlin will be celebrating the release of its fourth recording “One Kind Favor” at the Skipper's gig.
Although REDHEADED STEPCHILD is sometimes a band, tonight it's consisting of Buffalo, NY, natives Kathryn Koch and David Nanni. Their brand of music is described as a mixture of high-octane bluegrass, blues, jazz, roots, country and just plain ole great Americana music. They tour extensively and have gained Florida fans with their appearances at the popular Suwannee Springfest and MagFest Festivals in North Florida and locally at the popular Skipper's Smokehouse. www.redheaded-stepchild.com www.tammerlin.com

UU Dome - UU Dome/Sun-Apr 24/3PM/ 10. ROWAN BROTHERS. The better known Rowan brother is Peter but the two younger boys can more than hold their own. Lorin & Chris offer a versatile and exciting mixture of bluegrass-flavored folk and Everly Brothers style rock and country. www.rowanbrothers.com

JULY - Tentative -UU Dome: Richard Leigh -- remember "Don't it Make Your Brown Eye's Blue?" That was Richard's song. He's a Nashville songwriter and a Grammy winner. He has written numerous hits performed by big name country stars -- but he, himself, is also a performer & a darn good one at that. www.richardleigh.com
