12:30 to 2:30: FOFF will have its annual membership meeting with the business portion winding up at approx 1:30. At that point we'll welcome Elaine McGrath, Events Coordinator, Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park in White Springs, who will tell us all about this year's Florida Folk Festival which is taking place at The Park over Memorial Day Weekend. And then - TA DA! from 2 - 2:30 we'll welcome our keynote speaker AMY CAROL WEBB, who will talk to us about "The Life & Times of a Florida Folksinger."

At 2:30 we'll take a break for some Birthday Cake (Happy 28th Birthday to Friends of Florida Folk) & we'll also set up for the Folk Festival which is to kick off at 3pm.

3:00 till closing: Refreshments available for purchase, including Chili & Cornbread between 5:30 & 6:00. Additional Adequate breaks for stretching provided.

Headlining Musicians (each doing a full set): Amy Carol Webb; Jubals Kin; Elan Chalford & Pete Gallagher Duo.

Headliner Info: The dynamic Amy, a well known UU & song weaver, is no stranger to UUCT or FOFF. Were thrilled to have her back at the Dome. Jubals Kin is a young award winning family band from Orlando consisting of Roger, Gailanne & Jeffrey Amundsen ages 21, 15 and 11 respectively. Master Violinist/Florida Fiddle Champion Elan Chalford & Guitarist Pete Gallagher will present a unique and lively musical journey through Florida fiddle history, with stories and songs in the style and repertoire of famed Florida fiddlers Vassar Clements, Chubby Wise, Arthur Smith, Chubby Anthony, Ervin T. Rouse and others.

Fri. Jan 29. 8pm. RICHARD SMITH & JULIE ADAMS with GLEN HINES opening. $15 at the Door. $12 Advance. Concert endorsed by the Tampa Bay FingerStyle Players Club . Per Chet Atkins: "[Richard Smith is] the most amazing guy I know on the guitar. He can play anything I know, only better." Per Tommy Emmanuel: "If you like my should hear Richard Smith!" Richard is an internationally acclaimed guitar virtuoso. He will be joined by cellist Julie Adams. Their repertoire will include a wide variety of instrumental and vocal music from Scott Joplin Rags, Sousa marches, Mozart, Chet Atkins and Jerry Reed tunes, to Bach and the Beatles.
Local guitarist GLEN HINES will open. Glen has been playing guitar since the late 50s and is a member of the Tampa Bay FingerStyle Players Club, Tampa Bay FingerStyle Guitar Guild and the Chet Atkins Appreciation Society. Please note. Sun. Feb 7. 2pm. NOTE - 2pm Concert. DOUG SPEARS in Concert with special guests Hannah's Whirl & Jim Mason. Cost: $10. Doug, a popular singer-songwriter-guitarist, is currently on tour in support of his latest CD project "Welcome Home." On Super Bowl Sunday his tour vehicle (bus, van, volkswagen?) stops at our doorsteps for a Super UU Dome Concert. Never Fear. The concert will be over well before kickoff time.
With sand in his boots and orange blossom honey in his throat this fourth generation native has Florida roots flowing through his music revealing the history, values and perspectives that define him.
Special guests Hannah's Whirl and Jim Mason are also on the bill. Hannah's Whirl is Paul Arnone & Tami Wingard, a talented local singer-songwriter duo. Jim Mason is a music industry veteran with many accomplishments, including, for starters, co-writing the Peter, Paul, and Mary hit "I Dig Rock-N-Roll Music" and singing backup vocals on recordings with the likes of John Lennon and Alice Cooper. Yessirree. This promises to be quite a Super Sunday of Super Music.

Sun.Mar 21, 3 pm. AUDREY AULD with TBA. Cost $10. Devils aren't the only thing to come from Tasmania. Now Nashville based, Tasmanian Singer-songwriter Audrey Auld's music is described as Country, Folk and Americana. She is a memorable and uplifting entertainer, a spontaneous comedienne, a writer of humorous, provocative and soulful songs, and also the 2006 MerleFest Song Contest winner. Per Fred Eaglesmith (with whom she has toured): "Audrey Auld is a great singer songwriter. She holds a unique place in contemporary Americana/Roots music. I believe that this uniqueness is largely due to the fact that she is Australian. This affords her a totally different attitude as an artist than traditional American contributors to this genre. Audrey is one of the most honest original artists I know."

January 28, Thursday, DAVID OLNEY & SERGIO WEBB at a South Tampa House Concert. Per The Houston Press: "...Olney stands out like a jalapeƱo in abowl of vanilla pudding in Nashville.... throughout an 18-album career he has stubbornly gone his own way, making brilliant,unheralded albums.. Intense, gritty & rockin' ~ Performing DUO with super guitar-slinger Sergio Webb. SUPER GUITAR! OhLordy. The Titanic goes down right before our eyes & ears. Ditto for Jessee James. One of the best concerts you'll everexperience - anywhere -- and this one is in a house. Unbelievable! $20 suggested donation.

February 2, Tuesday, ERIC TAYLOR w/WALT LEUZINGER opening at a South Tampa House Concert. Eric is a sage musician, a lyrical genius and a master of theguitar. He tours internationally. It's always a treat when he includes Florida on his tour schedule. Walt is a fine Floridasinger-songwriter who is touting a new CD project "The Porch Pickers" which is dedicated to the loving memory of Mark Holland. $15 - $20 suggested donation.

February 24, Wednesday, ACOUSTIC AIDOLON with THOMAS LOEFKE at a South Tampa House Concert. Acoustic Eidolon is Joe Scott on double neck guitjo and HannahAlkire on cello (plus they both sing). Joe and Hannah have captivated audiences throughout the world with their signature "newacoustic" sound and their blending of Celtic, Folk, World & Latin music influences. Thomas Loefke, a Celtic harpist from Berlin,is currently touring with them, which means that their current repertoire is a bit more Celtic focused than their norm. Thispromises to be WORLD CLASS concert. $15-$20 suggested donation.

February 25, Thursday, PAUL GEREMIA & MICHAEL PICKETT CO-BILL at a South Tampa House Concert. The real acoustic blues deal. Times Two. An unprecedentedopportunity to see these two icons appear together (for the first time ever). To get to witness such an event in the intimateconfines of a house concert - well - you don't wanna miss this blues boat. 7:30 doors. 8:00 concert. $15-$20 suggesteddonation.

Note - this one is in the afternoon. February 28, Sunday, 2:30 doors. 3 :00 concert .STILL ON THE HILL at a South Tampa House Concert. SOTH to appear at a STHC. Nice ring to that. The Ozarkian duo of KellyMulhollan and Donna Stjerna is always well received. . With Donna's fancy fiddlin' & Kelly's fancy mandolin & guitar pickin' PLUS their fine vocal harmonies and upbeat original songs, they..... "have grafted the wild climbing vines of bluegrass, folk, jazz,classical, jug band and blues onto the hardies of Ozark Mountain rootstock..." Per Julie Koechler, "Bluegrass Now." $15-$20suggested donation.

March 10, Wednesday, MARC BLACK at a South Tampa House Concert. Marc is an award winning Singer-Songwriter. To wit: 2009 Kerrville New FolkFinalist. 2009 New Jersey Folk Festival songwriter winner. 2008 ABC Radio Syndicated Effigy Awards for Folk Artist of The Year andFolk Song of The Year. 2008 Austin Songwriters finalist. Marc describes his music as alternative, experimental, folk, andfolk-rock. Although Marc might be a newcomer to some of us, methinks he is well worth checking out. $10 - $20 suggested donation.7:30 doors. 8:00 concert.

March 11, Thursday, NORA JANE STRUTHERS at a South Tampa House Concert. Accompanying her will be Christian Sedelmyer on fiddle, mando and vocal harmonies. Singer-Songwriter-Accomplished Guitarist Nora Jane Struthers delivers a powerful live show complete with flat-footing,yodeling and original songs so clearly rooted in old time and bluegrass that audience members walk away with the feeling thatthey've seen something old and new, and utterly unique. Nora Jane is classic Americana. Last year she was a top ten finalist inthe Telluride Bluegrass Festival Troubadour competition. Also last year at the Appalachian String Band Festival in Clifftop, WV,she won the Best New Song competition. What's more, she (with her band) won 1st place in the Neo-Traditional Band Competition.Originally from New Jersey but now based in Nashville, she grew up playing and singing bluegrass music with her dad. March 18, Thursday, WHAT'S THAT YOU SAY? A CLANCY IS IN THE HOUSE? OH MY!Aoife Clancy at a South Tampa "Post St Patty's Day" House Concert. Aoife is pronounced ee-fa (sounds like Eva with an "f").Aoife comes from the small town of Carrick-on-Suir, in Co Tipperary, Ireland. Her musical career began in childhood when herfather, Bobby Clancy of the legendary Clancy Brothers, placed a guitar in her hands. Fast forwarding to 1995, we find theenchanting Aoife joining "Cherish the Ladies," one of the most sought-after Irish American groups in history. During her 5-yearswith Cherish, 6 cds were recorded, including one with the Boston Pops which was nominated for a Grammy. Aoife has been a featuredsoloist with the Boston Pops, Cincinnati Pops and the Mid-town Kansas Symphony. Per Mike Jackson, Canberra Times: "She has abreadth of styles that make her concerts fascinating. April 28, Wednesday, DANNY SCHMIDT at a South Tampa House Concert. Austin, TX-based singer/songwriter Danny Schmidt draws comparisons to Leonard Cohen,Townes Van Zandt, and Dave Carter. Upon winning the prestigious Kerrville New Folk award in 2007, Sing Out Magazine declared Dannyas "the best new songwriter we've heard in 15 years." Although his musical influences draw from deeply-rooted Appalachian mountaingospel to haunted English balladry, from syncopated Piedmont country blues to vagabond 60's protest folk-stumpery, it all boilsdown to just great songwriting in a singular style all his own. During Danny's last visit to the Tampa Bay area, he created quitea buzz. We anticipate the same thing happening this go-round. $10 - $20 suggested donation. 7:30 doors. 8:00 concert. RSVPrequired. Oct 10, 2010 . CLAUDE BOURBON from France - now living in London - Oh my gosh! Claude is an AMAZING! jaw-dropping guitarist & also an entertaining singer-songwriter -- He may not have much name recognition around here - but trust me - he is not to be missed. To say he wowed us last time he stopped by for a STHC, is an understatement. Plus he, his wife & son are delightful people.
