BRENDAN NOLAN
THIS SUNDAY AUG 5TH @3pm @ the UU Dome $10 advance; $15 door; you
can buy advance tickets onlline at www.uutampa.org/concerts
Altho Brendan performs quite regularly in Irish pubs in the area
- and, for sure, he's a great entertainer & always a crowd-pleaser at the
pubs, he doesn't very often do "listening" concerts. At the Dome
he'll be in "concert" mode and treating us to ballads &
originals plus, of course, a few favorite pub sing-a-longs.
Brendan
Nolan is a true Dubliner. He grew up in Ireland at a time when there was a
resurgence of interest in Irish music and when the singer-songwriter boom had
taken off in North America. Both of these genres would ultimately influence his
own music .
“Nolan has used his broad
knowledge of traditional Irish songs, as well as other kinds of music, to
develop into a very fine songwriter whose work is steeped in the traditions that
he’s mastered.”

SOUTH TAMPA HOUSE
CONCERT featuring SAM PACETTI.. (Westshore/Gandy Area) THUR AUG 9.
Concert at 7:30. Doors a half hour earlier. PLEASE,
PRETTY PLEASE, SEND ME YOUR RSVPS to gshello@tampabay.rr.com ..
Tradition
and innovation neatly balance in Sam Pacetti's music. Sam is considered
a fingerstyle guitar wizard and a deft singer/songwriter who
encompasses haunting depth and wry humor into the space of one
song. In other words, he seamlessly melds head-spinning guitar
pyrotechnics and raw emotion into one breathtaking package!
Sam
grew up in north Florida. At age 13, he found the music of both Chet Atkins and
Merle Travis. Fate intervened shortly thereafter in the person of the late
Gamble Rogers, the legendary picker and raconteur from St Augustine.
Gamble took young Sam under his wings. Gamble taught Sam the
importance of “the folk process;” ie, the importance of
passing music and oral tradition from teacher to student. Sam
considers Gamble to be his most influential mentor.
"If
Kottke, Fahey, and Procter are household names where you live, consider getting
familiar with Sam Pacetti's work. This guitarist is an enormous talent.
Pacetti is a simply astonishing guitarist" --- Eric Fidler (of The
Associated Press)
